Nature Fun Facts

When we were kids, we used to stick maple keys on the bridge of the nose. We thought that was funny, and in fact, it still is! To my surprise, this kind of game is not known beyond German borders, it appears. In the United States, for instance, children find amusement in tossing the winged seeds of the maple tree in the air (or dropping them from a height) and watching them twist and twirl down to the ground. That’s why they’re also called maple helicopters.
