Hold your horses
Sometimes, life gets a little hectic. Especially when you have had a bad case of FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) during the pandemic. When Covid hit, life was all about webinars, online meetings, networking events, virtual conferences... so much was suddenly happening online, to compensate for the lack of physical contact and to use the time wisely until everything is back to normal. After all, networking is important….Stop! Hold your horses!, I sometimes think to myself. One step at a time. What about your work-life balance? Well, that horse has left the barn. Time for contemplation and professional development during lockdown was great, but before I knew it I was back in the saddle again. Back at a physical conference. Back in yet another interpreting booth. Back to taking the reins and leading an entire interpreting team as chief interpreter. And until then, I kept staying home at my desk. Working on written translations or doing RSI assignments via Zoom. But that's a horse of a completely different colour.
